Succubus (n) – An alluring, shape-shifting demon who seduces and pleasures mortal men.

Pathetic (adj.) – A succubus with great shoes and no social life. See: Georgina Kincaid.

When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants. The wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid’s life is far less exotic. Her boss is a middle-management demon with a thing for John Cusack movies. Her immortal best friends haven’t stopped teasing her about the time she shape-shifted into the Demon Goddess get-up complete with whip and wings. And she can’t have a decent date without sucking away part of the guy’s life. At least there’s her day job at a local bookstore—free books, all the white chocolate mochas she can drink, and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can’t.

But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle’s demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won’t help because Georgina’s about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny…

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Succubus Blues is the 1st book in Richelle Mead’s first Adult Series. And what a start it is.

She brings you something different: Georgina Kincaid is a 20 something, early 30′s (Not sure if its been clarified) Succubus. She sold her soul in exchange for immortality. But that’s how the story goes right? You want to do a good deed, but you have to have something in exchange.

Now lets get back to the story.

As a Succubus, Georgina has to sleep with men in trade for their souls, but with her.. sleeping with good guys which the bad side prefer has gotten old for her and she has gotten sick of being the reason for why so many good guys souls will be going to hell, rather than heaven and not to mention it takes years and years off their lives. (because the energy sucking thing – Complicated, i know.)

Now put in the delimma: While she is a manager at the local big city bookstore, she meets her idol. Her favourite author named Seth Mortensen.

Meeting him is one thing. Falling in love? Its so not in her cards, but fate doesn’t seem to listen to what she should and shouldn’t do. But how can one have a relationship with a mortal when one kiss would lead to disastrious things?

Ah, what would god say? Oh right, she works for the devil.

The devil who looks like John Cusack. LOL

Rating!: 5/5

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth’s magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires–the ones who never die.

The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them.

After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir’s Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi social scene. And both girls will resume breaking hearts.

Fear made Lissa and Rose run away from St. Vladimir’s–but their world is fraught with danger both inside and out of the Academy’s iron gates. Here, the cutthroat ranks of the Moroi perform unspeakable rituals and their secretive nature and love of the night creates an enigmatic world full of social complexities. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever…

My comments:

This is the first book in the Young Adult Series ‘Vampire Academy.

The series first starts off with best friends, Rose and Lisa on the run having run away from the academy where they went to bed – 2 years ago.

But their time is up when Russian Guardian Dimitri Belikov finds them and takes them back to the academy, even if its the last thing they want to do. But they are just no match for the experience Dimitri

But there was a very good reason for this, Lisa was in trouble and Rose would have done anything to protect her friend.

Lisa is a Vampire, alive not dead. But there are those vampires called Strigoi who are determined to take down every living vampire they can. This is how they survive, by feeding on others, to kill.

Rose is half vampire and Half Human. They are called Guardians. They protect their fellow Moroi so that the bloodline would go on.

This book shows what one would do to protect a friend. There is loyalty, honor, trust, love, terror and so much more.

Richelle Mead creates such a unique way in this Vampire Genre that it amazes you by every page.

The characters, Rose in particular you come to relate to as she goes through the emotions as a protagonist.

This is her journey.

Title : Secrets Don’t Keep Friends

Fandom : Twilight

Pairing : Edward and Bella

Genre : All-Human

Rating : T

Word Count : 94 212

Summary :

Everyone has secrets, and Bella Swan is no different. For months she’s kept quiet, but the arrival of blunt Edward Cullen forces her to come clean with terrifying consequences. Secrets push friends away, but can honesty bring them back?

===========================

Going into this story, I was prepared to give up after the first chapter like I do for most fics. My mind is easily bored and I can’t stay long on a story that doesn’t completely bring me in.

At the beginning of the first chapter, I very nearly closed the page and went to look for another fiction. But, for some reason, I continued to read. And am I glad I did. Although this story can be very hard to read for Edward and Bella fans (and believe me, at times it was very hard for me to go on), the author just brings you in. You can’t help but keep reading and try to find out what is going on.

Her characters may differ from the books somewhat but they are the most realistic ones I’ve read for a while. Life isn’t pink or black. It’s all sorts of shades of grey. And that’s exactly what this fic is about. The moral conflicts Bella has to go through are simply maddening. You’re ready tu give up but you stay on board and you read, you live the story.

This is one of the best reads I’ve had. Not to say that the image of Edward dancing à la Tom Cruise in Risky Business will forever be imprinted in my mind.

The downside of the fiction if that it can be a bit confusing at times. Some things can be hard to understand and you may not want to read it because you can’t bear the thought of things not being the way you want them to be. But beat with it, it’s really worth it.

Overall rating : I’d give it a 7,5/10

Description:

MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens.

When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask.

=================================

This is the first book in Karen Marie Moning’s “Fever” Series and it starts off just as you expect, a young girl enjoying life as it should be till something dramatic happens.

Mackayla Lane’s life gets turned upside down one sunny summer afternoon when she receives a phone call that breaks her heart and soul into pieces.

Finding out that her beloved sister Alina is dead is the worst thing that ever has happened to her, and without any help she sets off to Dublin to find out what really happened on that fateful day.

What she finds when she arrives isn’t all like she had expected. The three things she assumed would happen.

1. Go to Ireland and find all she can about her sisters murder

2. help the police solve the case

3. Bring herself and her sisters belongings back to Georgia and try to move on with her life.

But none of those things happened because what she didn’t realize until she landed in the Irish country is that this trip of hers will change every conception she had about the world, herself and her sister.

I really loved the way Karen introduced the characters, the plot and the whole mystery. One of the things that drew me into this book was the way it can hook you in, leave you wanting more.

Plus the way it is written is so in depth, mature and you can tell the difference between other stuff you have read. There is something that sets the way she makes you fall in love with this world she creates.

With this being the first book in the series, it would also be an introductory book where it introduces the characters, the setting, plot so that you get acquainted with what it is all about. So even though this is a great book, it only gets better from here. Which is saying something because when i first read this book, i never imagined it could get any better than this.

But with every book that follows, you just get more swept up into the series and the lives of the characters.

Comments:

This is my all time favorite series ever. There is just so much to learn about them, and the whole plot you just get really into because it will be so different from anything else you may have read.

She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….

Sabrina , Jen and Kasia have made this blog for those who are wondering what would be a good fanfic or book to read.

Here we will have reccommendations, reviews and our personal comments on those particular things.

Each post will host a different fanfic or Book.

Sabrina will be in charge of the Fics – The genre, the pairing,, the fandom how good it is, whether it is worth reading. She is a fanfic addict so if there is something good out there, she’ll let you know.

And I (Jen) and Kasia will be in charge of what books you should read, because god knows i have read enough lately. If you’d like credentials, i am closing in on 200 books having read this year. And trust me, i know my stuff.

If you have any questions, comments, reccommendations you feel WE should check out then by all means give us a yell and we’ll be more than happy to comply.
